WebGi engine
What the WebGi engine is, which iJewel3D products use it and how its licence works.
WebGi is the iJewel3D render engine. It draws jewellery, diamonds and gems in real time in the browser.
What it does
- It shows metals with physically-based materials.
- It calculates refraction and dispersion for diamonds and gems at runtime.
- It is fast enough to show hundreds of stones on a phone.
How the layers fit
| Layer | What it is |
|---|---|
| Threepipe | The open-source core. |
| WebGi | The commercial layer on Threepipe, with the metal, diamond and gem plugins. |
| Mini Viewer | The viewer that you embed on a website. It runs on WebGi. |
| Mini Editor | The editor in the browser. Playground uses it. It runs on WebGi. |
WebGi is a superset of three.js. The iJewel Viewer, Ring Try-On, the Ring Configurator and the Wedding Band Builder all load WebGi.
Licence
- Threepipe is free, also for commercial use.
- WebGi needs an iJewel3D licence for each domain that uses it.
- WebGi checks the domain automatically. A licence key is not necessary.
setKey()anddiamondKeystay in the API for compatibility, but they have no effect.- An "iJewel3D Evaluation Version" watermark shows when the domain has no licence.
An iframe needs no domain licence
An iframe embed from the iJewel platform needs no domain registration. Only a viewer that runs directly on your page needs it.
