Replace a model and keep the link
Replace the 3D file of a model on the iJewel platform and keep the same File ID, links and embeds.
You can replace the 3D file of a model and keep its File ID. Links and embeds that use the File ID continue to work. To do this, upload a file with the same name into the same folder.
Before you start
- You know the folder that contains the existing file.
- The new file has exactly the same name as the existing file, with the same file extension.
Replace the file
Step 1 of 7
- In My Drive, open the folder that contains the existing file.
- Drag the new file onto the page.
- If the upload settings open, set the options.
- Select the upload button, for example Upload 1 file.
- In the dialog You already have this file, select Replace it, then select Upload.
- Wait until the upload is complete.
- Open the model and make sure that the materials and the gems are correct.
All 7 steps are done.
What stays and what changes

If the platform makes a second file
The platform makes a new file with a new File ID in these cases:
- The name of the new file is different from the name of the existing file.
- You upload the file into a different folder.
- You select Keep both in the dialog You already have this file.
Your links and embeds then continue to show the old model. Delete the new file. Correct the name or the folder. Then upload the file again.
Compare the names
If the dialog You already have this file does not open, compare the two file names in My Drive.
