Checklist before upload
The checks to do on a CAD file before you upload it to the iJewel platform.
Most display problems come from the file. You can correct all of them before the upload.
In the CAD file
| Check | Correct state | More information |
|---|---|---|
| Units | Millimetres, at the real size of the piece | Units and scale |
| Layers | One material for each layer, with names such as Metal 01 and Gem 01 | Layers and names |
| Prongs | On a metal layer, not on a gem layer | Layers and names |
| Gem cuts | One gem layer for each cut, and the same layer name for the same cut in all files | Gems and diamonds |
| Gem meshes | Face normals, not smooth normals | Gems and diamonds |
| Stones | Each stone is a separate mesh | Gems and diamonds |
| Identical parts | Block instances | Size limits for mobile |
| Polygon count | Less than about 200,000 | Size limits for mobile |
At the export from Rhino
| Check | Correct state | More information |
|---|---|---|
| Viewport mode | Shaded mode before the export | A 3DM file shows nothing |
| Save small | Off | A 3DM file shows nothing |
| Format | 3DM, because it keeps the layers. GLB is also good. STL has no layers and no materials. | Supported file formats |
| File size | Less than the limit of your plan | File limits |
After the upload
| Check | Correct state | If it is not correct |
|---|---|---|
| The model shows | All parts are visible in the viewer | A 3DM file shows nothing |
| The gems | Each stone shows sharp facets | Gems look flat |
Do a fast check in Playground
Open the model in Playground before you publish it. Look at one gem and at one metal part.
