Who can see my files
A file is private until you invite people or make it public in the Share window.
Each file on the iJewel platform is private at first. Only the owner can see a private file. You change the access in the Share window of the file.
Access levels
| Level | Who can see the file | How to set it |
|---|---|---|
| Private | Only the owner | This is the default for a new file. |
| Invited people | The owner and the people on the People with access list | Enter an email address. Then select Invite. |
| Public | Anyone with the link | In the Link tab of Share, open the access menu (it shows Restricted) and select Anyone with the link. |
Roles for invited people
The People with access list shows you as owner. Each invited person has a role. A new invited person gets the role can view.
| Role | Effect |
|---|---|
| can view | The person can see the file. |
| can edit | The person can change the file. |
| Remove | The person loses access to the file. |
You can invite people to a file. You cannot invite people to a folder.
What public access includes
- Anyone with the link can view the model. An account is not necessary.
- Domain links and embeds work only for a public file.
- Public access does not include download. Download has its own switch, which is off by default.
Limits that an administrator sets
On an enterprise instance, the administrator can turn off public links for all users. If you then turn on the switch, the message Public sharing is disabled by the admin shows.
More protection for the model data
Access rules control who can open the file. Encryption protects the 3D data itself. Refer to Protected files.
