Camera limits
Control how far a person can move the camera around your model.
Camera limits control how far a person can move the view around your model. You set them in Playground.
Before you start
- Open the model in Playground. Right-click the file and select Edit in Playground.
- The settings on this page are in the Scene tab of the right panel.
Keep the camera above the floor
Limit Camera stops the camera at floor level. People cannot rotate the view to see the underside of the ground.
- Open the Scene tab in the right panel.
- Go to the Ground section.
- Turn on Limit Camera.
- Save the project.
All 4 steps are done.
Let people see the underside of the model
If the embedded viewer does not rotate to the underside of the model, Limit Camera is on. This is a setting, not a fault of the viewer.
- Open the model in Playground.
- Go to the Ground section in the Scene tab.
- Turn off Limit Camera.
- Save the project.
- Reload the page that shows the viewer.
All 5 steps are done.
If the underside stays out of view after that, contact support.
Use a camera from your 3D software
A camera that you export with the model shows in the Cameras (Loaded) section. The section is empty if the model file has no camera.
- Go to the Cameras (Loaded) section in the Scene tab.
- Select Activate Main on the camera.
You then see only through this camera. You cannot orbit or pan. To go back to the free camera, select Deactivate Main.
Zoom buttons
The Zoom In/Out switch of an embed shows or hides the zoom buttons. Refer to Toolbar and controls.
Zoom distance, rotation speed and axis lock
The embed options have no setting for the zoom distance, the rotation speed or a rotation axis lock. In an iframe embed, you cannot change these values.
With the SDK, your developer can set these values on the camera controls of the viewer:
| Control | What it changes |
|---|---|
minDistance, maxDistance | How near and how far the camera can zoom |
rotateSpeed | The speed of rotation with the mouse or a finger |
zoomSpeed | The speed of zoom |
minPolarAngle, maxPolarAngle | The up and down limits. Set the two values to the same angle to allow rotation only to the left and to the right. |
minAzimuthAngle, maxAzimuthAngle | The left and right limits |
For a code example with minDistance and maxDistance, refer to the Viewer class.
